Exciting Pilot Program

“We are thrilled to begin a pilot program that will allow our customers to receive their everyday essentials in 15 minutes or less,” Kumar shared during the company’s flagship event, Smbhav, held in Delhi.

Amazon’s Strategy

Amazon’s strategy has always been centered around ‘selection, value, and convenience.’ The vision is to establish a large and profitable business in India by offering the widest selection, fastest speeds, and greatest value to customers in every single pin-code across the country.

Launch of Amazon Tez

This marks the first major launch under Kumar’s leadership, as he took over from former head Manish Tiwary just two months ago. Amazon Tez has been in development for several months and is now being introduced at a time when customer preferences in India are evolving.

Shifting Customer Preferences

More and more customers are opting for quick commerce platforms over traditional 1 or 2-day deliveries. This shift has impacted e-commerce giants like Flipkart and Amazon, prompting them to launch their own rapid delivery services such as Minutes and Tez, respectively.

Building on Existing Customer Base

Traditional e-commerce companies are looking to leverage their current customer base. Amazon already has millions of customers in India, including Prime members, who trust the company and will appreciate the added convenience of Tez, Kumar noted.
